The Johnson Justice Fellowship is a two-year, full-time program based in New York City, designed to support mid-career professionals committed to social justice and public service. Established by the Johnson Family Foundation, the fellowship aims to invest in emerging leaders dedicated to advocating for equitable and sustainable communities. 

Program Details:

Duration: September 2025 – August 2027

Location: New York City, with in-person work required

Compensation: Annual salary ranging from $70,000 to $80,000, plus a comprehensive benefits package


Eligibility Criteria:

Mid-career professionals with 3 to 5 years of experience in social justice work, democracy advocacy, or related fields

A demonstrated commitment to social justice in New York City

Strong equity lens and the ability to engage in courageous conversations

Self-motivated, capable of managing time effectively, and able to see projects through to completion

Host Organizations:

Fellows will be placed at one of the following partner organizations, each focusing on a distinct area:

1. New American Leaders (Electoral Engagement): Prepares first- and second-generation Americans for leadership roles in public service. 

2. New Economy Project (Policy Change and Advocacy): Works with community groups to build an economy that works for all, rooted in cooperation, racial and neighborhood equity, and ecological sustainability. 

3. Riders Alliance (Grassroots Movement Building): A grassroots organization led by bus and subway riders advocating for reliable, affordable, world-class public transit in New York City.
